Everytime i am in line for movie, the ticket checker says "Enjoy your movie" to a non south asian but when it comes to me all they say is my theater number without "Enjoy your movie". Or in the LCBO, they ask for airmiles to non south asian but when it comes to me, they dont ask me if i have airmiles card - i have to tell them if they accept airmiles? Any input?
When I go to movie theatre or to LCBO, I am always in good mood. so never noticed. Who cares, I wil be enjoying it anyway.
Dil pe mat le yaar!

Hi Nazim : u r right , it happens sometimes ....and thats the sad fact that some of our people do this......
i wud not take it to heart....i wud just think that there is sthg wrong with the other persons personality or thinking and move one.....as they say ...god pl forgive them, as they do not know what they r doing....
This is not discrimination. The way I look at it (and also live my life) is as follows:
There are different type people in this world (Canada is no different) with a diverse personalities, traits, and backgrounds. The only person you can control is yourself and yourself only. If you crib over the minute incidences like this in everyday's life, you will only have hatred and reverse-discrimination towards other people or the same group of people who ill-treated you. Would that give you any solace or peace of mind? No! So, don't worry about other people as you can't control them.
My advise to you - take it as a pinch of salt and move on. Think about the way how we were treated back in India by the Public officials, Bank clerks, etc., despite of being the same color. Have you ever been to the Indian grocery stores here and notice the customer service by our own Desi's?
Customer service is by far the best in Canada. At least to me.
I'm sure the non south asian movie attendants post the following on a non south asian forum.
"What's up with these south asians? Every time I sell tickets to a south asian guy and finish a transaction, they never smile or say 'thank you'. They either stare blank-faced, give me a wierd look or go about their next business like I don't even exist. Sometimes I tell them 'Enjoy your movie' and they walk away without saying anything or even smiling. I'm stopped saying anything outside of the transaction to them now."
It isn't always racism, there's more to it. Plus, like others have said, it is too minor to be bothered about.
One thing you could do, that will most likely will make a difference in your experience is as follows
When you get to the counter, look at the attendant, smile and say "How are you doing?". Like you mean it. In a way that makes the guy at the counter feel like he/she is more than a robot handling transactions.
