Hi everybody:

I am a veterinary doctor with experienced in canine medicine from india. Are there any desi vets in Canada? I ve got my Immigrant visa, planning to move soon.
I would like to be in touch & share experiences with south asian vets settled in Canada. Initially getting a vet assistant job in small animal hospitals will be easier? Job prospects, duties and pay in these positions? Looking forward to hear from south asian vets. Bye.
Indianachiever.

I am not a Vet.. but I can tell you one thing.. that there are plenty of animal hospitals in Canada.. I guess more than Human hospitals.. they have small animal clinics on almost all major interesections..

I am sure they have some sort of license exam.. which i think is not that difficult..

Good Luck.. Some Desi Vets will reply soon..

I had neighbour vet from Gujarat, Anand Dairy. He worked as a general labour and some how manage to get laid off by company to appear for exam which he could pass on second attempt becuase pass results are low for that exam. After the first obstace overcome he started preparing for the second set of exams. As per him it is a process which will take 2 years if done with dedication to get into clinic as assistant. And 3 -4 years to be a vet and have his own clinic. You can check with vet association.

But how long can u work as labour........yes if you are getting certification done and know 3 - 4 years. You can have a decent living I do not know about comforts.
I will try to dig his number becuase he has shifted. Gujarati vets have formed a group in Toronto. They all are from Anand or Banaskata Dairy. Try to search from your vet association. I am narrating what that person use to talk to me. He is trying hard to get into profession.

I know one VET who was here and after three year of struggle moved to US, where he was accepted to work in his field. He is also member of CD. I believe his ID is amritanand. Try to write a PM to him.
