You are starving, can't wait to get food served (and don't feel like tipping usual 15%), and you think of Buffet (OK Indian buffet). You enter restaurant such as Brar, Tandoodri flame, Host etc.. you see tonne of variety and you are all ready for the feast.
But the moment you take your first appetizer you are already half full..take one bite of main course and you are full and then just smell sweets and you cannot walk out of the door..and then don't feel like going back again for 6 months.
Is something wrong with the food..do they put some special ingrediant such as soda or something that makes you immediately full? Did some of you have had similar experience?

same is the case with me. I don't go to buffets anymore. When you go to buffetts you tend to eat more and weight gain issues.

It may be a psychological thing. Since you are going to buffet, you expect to eat more rather than going to a-la-carte restaurant. Also, Indian appetizers like samosa or pakoda tend to be more filling than "western" appetizers like bruschetta or nacho & dips.

buffets are largely the reason that the average north american is obese or approaching obesity or other unhealthy eating habits.
there is nothing in the food that is wrong. Most people dont need that much food.
Your body is trying to tell you something ..dont abuse it by shoving in food you dont need :)

Nope, it is the fast food centers, less activity and the ingredients that are used in food are largely the reason....what I was trying to point out that even if I eat less at buffet compared to ala carte or regular meal at home, I feel stuffed. So was trying to blame it on ingredients....

Sorry I wrote my post without realizing it requires further clarification. I meant the concept of the buffet..unlimited eating with the majority of the food being prepared in MSG, extra sodium and trans fats or whatever else makes the food appear to have taste but be prepared as cheaply as possible.

I have yet to taste a buffet meal that tastes as good as one 'a la carte'.

Fast food can be healthy - Ie Subway.
