Hi guys!
I am thinking of taking 2 of my friends to the Buffet on Sat/Sun. 10 am to 12 noon.
I saw from their website that the price for adults is $7.99 and they have also mentioned as to what is available at the buffet.
Knowing the poor service that HSB Miss. offers , i would like to know from CD's the following things!
1. How is the crowd there for the Buffet. Do they limit customers if the dining room becomes full and ask us to wait for some customers to exit before they allow us in?
2. Since it is a buffet, are all the items mentioned available? or do the best ones disappear soon after the buffet opens?
if the review of HSB Miss. is no good, i will take my friends to Imperial Chinese Buffet @ Steels/Dufferin.
Thanks
TK

Just an Update on Saravana Bhavan Buffet.
I had been to the Buffet last sundat at 11:30 pm and found 30 people waiting outside to go in, so i returned back.
Today i went in at 10:30 pm and had to wait for 10 mins. They have added some items to the buffet. They have Dosa, Puri, Potato masala (separate), Vada, Idly, Mini Uttapam, Tamrind rice, Kichadi, Pongal , kerasi (vermicilli) , 2 sweets, Sambar, Tomato chutny, Coconut chutney and another mild pudina chutny. Dosa was always in short suppy and to me personnaly only the dosa was good. The cost is $7.99 (Kids under 5 -> $5.99) and considering that they donot have as much expense as other buffets which invoe meat, vegtable, cooking etc..., HSB makes a hell a lot of profit. Nowadays the buffet is crowded all the time.
Most people who visit are north indians and Bramins/Iyengars/non meat eaters of South India. He has taken advantage of the niche market for these kind of food.
Coffee is $2.25 and it is a filter coffee of India. I liked the taste but my companion did not like the taste at all.
Me and another adult female paid $25 for the bill (incl. Tips+ 2 coffee ) and wondered if we made a mistake of coming here for a veg. bf.
Anjappar is now offering a bf buffet at $6.50 a bf buffet. Comments invited regarding the same.
Comments invited regarding this buffet esp. from Sankaracharya who know the inside working of this restaurant very very much. I would also like him to confirm if the chef who does the Dosa in the kitchen is a Sri Lankan or a Tamil from Tamil nadu sent by HSB authorities to help in the cooking.

Dear imcan 2006,
Thank You for pointing out the new location. TK is an expert on all these places and his report on this place also can be found on this very site. In regards to the Location and ambience of this dosa place ?, It is right next to the Waterloo and every time somebody opens the door for the loo, the aroma takes over the dosas aroma.
This place eventhough serves tasty food but it is like eating on an Indian Railway Platform.

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
