The report also says "Still, the latest data shows that while sales and listings are down, prices appear to be holding steady."

In August condo sales in the GTA fell by 24%, and in the downtown they collapsed 34%. September is no better. All sales are off 15%, condos 28% and downtown units have declined 32%. Meanwhile anyone driving through the place can clearly see crane mania, an indication of how much product is yet to flood into a market with serious issues.

Some would jump ....condo makes sense to crash but SFH is different and perfect time to buy.
Few months back condo market was heated too.

Ok, you are right..finally..but wasn't that the intent of the latest regulations? To curb the buying spree....so far it did not affect the price..and even if it does, it may not be like 40% as some pundits are predicting..if it starts to go in that direction, who is stopping the govt from relaxing some of those curbs. And hey everyone is printing money and inflation is still under control..total mockery of financial system..it is just the race who got more ink and paper.
For Euro they are screwed because too many chefs..All those nations woould have printed their currency and avoided those austerity measures if it was not for Euro.

" wasn't that the intent of the latest regulations?"

We need to ask question how come price shoot over the roof..not because people are making more money or more saving or oil well in backyard?? When people can rent mortgage who does not have any money in their pocket (0/40, 5/35, 5/30), cash back mortgage, loose lending standards, super low interest rates and RE boards.

In Canada it’s estimated that 50% of all new-home sales are made to first-timers, about 95% of whom don’t have enough money to buy a Mazda. This can only mean we continue to raise the horniest offspring on the planet, then goading, pushing and shaming them into a dangerous asset and decades of indenture.

 why should I say that when there was no mistake and I did not screw...actually the folks who refrained from buying a house 4-5 years back after reading some speculative article should say that "I made a mistake and I am screwed". Not sure where you got that impression that I was bashing the government..It is the folks in US and the ones who invested in condo in BC may be affected, but I dont see anyone here is bashing government and policies..

People are kind of making more money because interest rates are low and they are going to stay low for near future.
And as someone said "In the long run we are all dead."

my intention was not pointing any one personally.
It was more like a general statement about people's blame game about their wrong decision.
