This is a great place for beginner skiers. There are about 6-7 slopes with moderate difficulty. It also has night skiing. I think they also have tubing. We left Toronto at 9 am on the Saturday and was at the resort by 10.30am. We skied, the whole day until 7.30pm. Stayed one night in Barrie and came back on the Sunday. It was a lot of fun.
Here are our approximate expenses:
All day lift tickets purchased from Costco online - $42 (adult) + $32 (junior)
Equipment rental for whole day (skis + boots + poles) - $45 per person
Helmet rental - $6 per person
Goggles – they don’t provide rental goggles. There is a store where you can buy them but they are expensive.
Cafeteria - $30 ( lunch and snacks for two people). You can carry your food and water to the resort. There are rental locker rooms.
Hotel - $113 for one night (used Hotwire.com to book the hotel. We got a Super 8 in, South Barrie, along Highway 400. It was a good room.)
Clothing – make sure you have proper clothing. Snow pants is a must (with jeans you can’t ski for more than 2-3 hours). Wear a lot of layers on your body and legs. Use waterproof gloves or mittens. Bring good quality hat, scarf and woolen socks, if you want to enjoy the resort the whole day.
Great info. Thanks.
One more tip is to remember Michael Schummaker and be careful while Skiing and be serious.

One can't stop living life because of such freak accidents. I am sure there are more serious car accidents than ski accidents, but we don't stop using cars. Agree with your being careful and serious comment.
Having said that, I was amazed to see 3-4 year old kids wizz by me on those slopes. Skiing is lot of fun and we should get our families to appreciate it. I agree that it is a bit expensive, but if planned properly it can be manageable.
