I am fro IT field and having the laptop.
Do they check licence and copyright of the software at airport?
Atharv
No. I haven't seen them checking anything with laptop, except ocasionally asking you to turn it on, not to check your software status, but to check that this is real laptop and not bomb!

Yeah Atharv, they dont check abt license, cos if they knew how to do that, they wouldnt have been employed as a security agent. I too thought abt this, but at the airport, they only asked me to switch on the Laptop to verify what GG has stated above.
The same goes for books also. You can gring, "Indian versions" of available foreign books to Canada / USA

Hi Bighead
' If it's good it cant be free & if it's free, its not good enough'
Rule of thumb : 'Nothing GOOD comes for free.'
Exception to the rule : 'CDs spending their valuable time in sharing their experiences and dispensing good advise on this forum'
Cheers.

Guys,
I have been using computers for the last 8~9 years..windows OS.... (I am NOT an IT Guy) and recently seen the latest version of Linux , to my surprise, It was really good to use it for sometime...(as a demo).
My Question to IT Professionals :
Could you please tell me if it is possible to use Linux as OS and use MSOffice(Normally designed for windows OS) ...(I feel that it may not work completely as they are competitors) or maybe there is another version of MSOFFICE available which can easily work with both the OS...
-or- any word / xls. file can work with Linux based OS Office Software..
regards
Maverick
