Hi

I am planning of driving down to Niagara Falls. Just wanted to know which route to take from Toronto, how much time does it takes, where to park, what to see, what to miss, how much time to spend etc.

Will really appreciate the help.

Maybe the OP wants to know alternative routes. Mapquest gives the most direct route, which in this case will be the QEW all the way to Niagara. But you may want to take Highway 20 from Hamilton which I am told takes you thorugh some breathtaking views as you travel thorugh vineyard country.

QEW is most obvious route to go to Niagra Falls. It takes about 2.00 hours to reach there, depending on traffic and where you live in GTA.

The parking which is exactly on the Falls is very rare to get if you reach late (after 1.00 PM), so you have to Park little further, but you can get a ride service from there. However last time I used a Private parking lot, that offered me Parking just on the street (forgot the name, but where Casiono is) for only $5 for whole day. That was quite cheap and very close to the falls.

There is lot to see on Niagara. You might need 10 trips to cover all. I am sure your are not planning for Marine Land at the same time.

From the Niagara Attractions I found only Mid of the Mist worthy. Journey Behind the falls is OK, but is not that exciting. Don't spend money on the Spenish Aero Cart (or something similar), it is just a rope way.

You can spend about $10 and go to the observation desk on Minolta Tower. It will give you wonder view of Niagara and Surroundings.

As mentioned by Manasvi, DO NOT FORGET NIAGARA ON THE LAKES

It's a beautifull little town. But I guess you should go on day specially to Niagara On The Lakes, and later when it gets dark, go to Falls. I guess for this year it's too late now, but may be next summer, plan a trip in such a way that you'll spend most of the day at Niagara On The Laes and then go to Falls. During summer time, guess till Aug end, every Fri and Sun, at 10.00 pm, they have wonderful FIREWORKS at Falls. It's fantastic.

QEW is the obvious route. If you are in Mississauga or Etobicoke, you may reach there in like 90 mins.

Enjoy your trip.

:)
