Even if you graduate from Harvard or Yale, it is not "guaranteed" that you will get what you want.

A local MBA would deffinately give you an edge over the rest when hunting for a job ..... then again like any good MBA programme ..... it all depends where you get the MBA from ....... the top three programes have a reputation of job offers to their graduating Alumni before they graduate ....
The Private sector keeps an eye on the top four sessions .... they go by different means e.g. study papers .... internships .... case studies etc etc etc and they evaluate thru the Prof's input .... usually they look for the following ...
1) Confidence
2) Communication Skills
3) Salesmanship
4) Skill
in this particular order too ....
If it helps you a bit ..... Asians tend to be far more competitive .... If you have a decent international exposeure thru your previous job ... it would help ...... but then the more aggressive way to go about it is build a network while you are in the University ..... Statistacaly .. the top 3% jobs are never advertised and go by networking .... It is not WHAT you know ... it is WHO you know ....
Ivey league .... University of Western Ontario
Queens's
Rotman .... U of Toronto
These Universities have a very strong Alumni base .... becoming a part of either one of these would give you a boost which no other head hunter would offer.
Best of Luck

All i can say is all prospective immigrants are not "another brick in the wall kind of people".
My friend who is immigrating is a 1st class honors Engineer from a Mumbai university, has 5 years work experience in india in the top 5 of the fortune 500 companies and presently works as a project manager without a MBA. He makes 8 lakhs in india and he is moving. Obviously to hold such position and work with clients in the US he has to have good if not exceptional communication skills. He can get CIO recommendations from US
I applied for immigration with him (it was his idea and i liked it, and we more or less faced the same processing times) and i may not be as sucessful as he is in india but i think if someone like him does not get into a MBA school then who will?
I feel with or without MBA he will have more chances of sucess than "just another immigrant"
He has more or less decided on a MBA, for me as i am a Techie and not a manager i am still thinking....if it will help...
Also i have worked with ISB/IIM MBA's and i ask then what do they learn in 1 year in ISB that takes their salary from 3-4l py in India to minimum of 9-10l py. Do they run magic wand on them
My friend said its nothing specail...They make you understand management concepts and work very hard...Its the brand value that counts most of the time...Unlike Mr Trump most organizations want to hire branded people from these schools..these people are good...but are not born with horns over their head.....A little hard work gets you long way...is what they say.....
Comments welcome

Totally agree with you there....MBA can be your ticket to move up but once there you need to maintain yourself (by politics, hard work or whatever works)
Sometimes the more difficult part is getting there and not staying there

Gentlemen ..... keep one thing in mind .... Trump's programme is a reality show .... it has been scripted for viewer ratings only ..... not much to do with reality .... deriving ques from such a programme for your future base in another country is a very dangerous thing to do ..... you are setting yourself up for disappointment ...
Another hard reality is .... in the GTA ..... you'll bump into a lot of engineers driving cabs and other above minimum wage jobs .... I personnaly have known a few of them .... a lot of these highlu accomplished individuals get caught in these situations where out of embarrassment and fear of being called a loser do not return to the "Middle East" or their countries of their origin where they had previously managed to prove their metle ......
I would think twice if I were your engineer frined who plans to come to Canada .... plan for the worse .... keep your priorities right ......
