Technical Engineer/Officer – Maintenance
Bruce Power currently has an opening in our Maintenance Engineering Department. We are seeking a Valve Engineer who will be responsible for the following:
Providing technical evaluations, recommendations, and proposals in support of operation and maintenance, as required in the area of valve maintenance programs for a Nuclear Generation facility. Assess, evaluate and recommend alternatives to resolve process, and valve equipment problems.
For supporting/maintaining one or more of the valve programs. This would involve specifying Outage valve maintenance scope, recommending preventative maintenance activities and overall valve maintenance programs.
Carefully monitoring the program for effectiveness (increased valve reliability) and required changes which would then be implemented and monitored for effectiveness.
Overall technical support and guidance to the program would involve working closely with Valve Maintenance staff, System and Design Engineers on a regular basis.
Preparing or revising procedures to optimize operation, or recognize changes to valve components, consistent with the operating license, design intent, division policies, and safe operating practices.
Prepare recommendations for the purpose of the procuring materials, services, and equipment to support the various Valve programs.

Specific knowledge and experience related to valve maintenance (motor operated valves, air operated valves, check valves, relief valves, manual valves, and valve packing) is a requirement.
Experience related to engineering support in the area of Valve maintenance is also a requirement.
Requires a knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, electricity, instrumentation, and engineering to technically understand the operation of the facility
Requires a four year degree in an appropriate discipline (preferably Mechanical) at a recognized university or equivalent level of education.
Requires knowledge and experience in the design, operation, or maintenance of chemical, nuclear, or fossil plants. Problem solving skills and experience with technical studies and evaluations are required.
A period of up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
