Hi,

I welcome the appointment of Greg Chappell as Indian coach.

He should be able to motivate the Indian cricketers to be more aggressive & develop a die-hard attitute & the killer instinct which seems to have been deserting the Indians in the finals of many tournaments.

Time will tell.

It also speaks strengths of the Indian economy & the power of India in the cricket world today that so many foreigners were in the fray for coach.

There was also a nice series of articles in the "National Post" newspaper regarding the growth of India. We all should be proud of it irrespective of whether we like India or Canad better.

Thanks.

Hi

Greg Chappell is very good choice for Indian cricket coach post.

Suddenly in India, this coach post has become like a Prime Minister of India, i.e., 'Swadesi (or) Videsi'. Unlike PM of india, Cricket coach post went to Videsi.

Lets hope that this Videsi will bring Worldcup 2007 in Caribbean to India.

PMA.

I don't get it..........how do a few foreign coaches being in the fray become indicative of the 'strength of the economy'?

To put this into perspective, GC's salary as coach is being reported at US$250k a year, which is measly for a sportsperson at the highest level.

If I'm not mistaken there's a number of 'foreign coaches' in line to be Sri Lanka's next cricket coach as well (including Tom Moody). Is that indicative of the 'strength of the Sri Lankan economy'?

Hi Crenshaw,

I have written about the strength of Indian economy in the cricket world. I don't know whether you take interest in cricket or not but a lot of sponsorship money goes from India to world cricket definitely.

I hope u understand now.

Thanks.

How is that linked to having a 'foreign coach'?

Sri Lanka also has foreign coaches lined up for the job, so does South Africa. Is that indicative of the 'strength of their economies'?

Don't you think that US $250 K is a big amount for a cricketer? Also, for India to be paying that much ? Maybe in USA/Canada, it might be a measly amount as basketball stars get a bigger amount. For cricketers who were not interested in playing in India earlier, they now express interest in becoming coach of India. I feel that shows the strength of Indian economy.

You may not agree though, I understand.

Also, many companies like Microsoft, HP, APC, General Motors, ABB & so many other companies are investing a lot of money in India & that is making the Indian economy stronger since people are getting better pays, etc.

The roads especially highways are definitely getting better. Big shopping malls are coming up. Walmart also has expressed interest in setting up shop in India.

Thanks & regards.
