In 1981, the Pope was John Paul II, and while there was an assassination attempt on him, he didn't die.
John Paul II, did die during 2005, so going by your logic there shouldn't be anything to 'warn' the Pope about.

Try to be sensitive about religion and religious figures - amongst other things bear in mind that you live in a country that is largely Catholic.
