I have read in CIC website that applicants who applied before January 01, 2002 to be assessed under the selection criteria of the former Immigration Act.

This makes my day but I wonder where can I find \"the former Immigration Act\"?
As I can remember that I was eligible according to that criteria but I wanna double check.

Thank you,

AMT

By former Immigration Act, they mean 70 points for qualification.

Are you sure?
But I don't think because what is written in the changes that released in September 18 : "the Minister is proposing to amend the IRP transition regulations to allow for all skilled worker and business immigration applicants who applied before January 01, 2002 to be assessed under the selection criteria of the former Immigration Act. Applicants who do not qualify under the former Act would then be assessed under the current IRPA."

It's not logic to evaluate the applicant under 70 then evaluate him under 67 in case he did not pass.
I guess they mean by former act the old evaluation rules.

Thank you for your reply.

There is nothing illogical about it. 70 points are evaluated under the old criteria whereas 67 points are evaluated under the new criteria. So a person can have different points under the old and new rules.

Since you have applied before January 2001, you may check your old documents to see how the points were evaluated earlier.
