Subh Dipawali
This is what people ask while they are sitting in India. There are lot of ways to celebrate festivals in North America, but one thing is very common - all festivals are celebrated during Saturday and sunday.
We feel bad when we have to work on the Diwali day. Today is Monday and I am in the office, between Goras. But this time we did different. We all desis in the office had decided to celebrate it with Goras.
We brought some Samosa and Kaju Katri and send an e-mail to everyone explaining that we are celebrating this festival - it is as important as Christmas - and how we would like to celebrate with them. We also paged this to all company. Having hearing that there is something FREE food in the lunch room, people rushed and looking at their response, we have to rush two people to buy more samosa. As of now, double to quantity of Samaos are now already "HAJAM" by goras. Many of them asked about this festival, about the new year and so on and as a "Little Ambassador of India" we were able to explain what it is. Yeah, it cost $7.50 to us, but it is fine when we were able to send message that, yeah, we do celebrate things!
Anyway that was celebration at office. I will post pictures soon on this site.
Tonight we will be going to a temple to see the fire-works. There are many temples arranging this. We are going to Sanatan Temple.
Tomorrow we are meeting at one Temple in the Morning before going to office for one hour. This is almost similar to what we do in India. So there will be gulli in the office for 2 hours for good reasons.
On Bhaiya-Duj (Bhai-Bij) we have invitation from 'far-sister' and again we will be having some joy of diwali.
Again on week-ends we have several programs.
So friends, though we are missing India and Indian festival atmosphere, we do celebrate all festivals our way!
