Hi MG
It is not that hard to get US visa. But lot of ppl. comes Ottawa from Toronto
coz you can get online appointment easily.Waiting time is less. I helped lot of ppl. I also got US visa virtually without any prepration. You should present yourself in a nice way. They need
some paper work and purpose of your visit and some balance in your bank.
Most improtantly you should have business dress up.
I got visa just because i was dressed up in black suit no paper even, no bank certificate/no statement i had one atm slip and officer took just 2-3 mintues to grant my visa.
My friends used to say me , if I went with anyone he/ she will get visa.
Once I took my visiting aunt from India. she was refused visa two times in New Delhi. But I was not sure cohow can a PR go to US? She was refused before. and she does not speak english well. I went with her as an interpretter. He refused her visa but i insisted again and again and requested him to grant visa. then he agreed and said it will take 50 bucks more and they send an investigation.
Anyway finally after 2 days US consulate called and ask us to pick up the passport with visa.
So you can try with some prepration. eazy job
Max what can they do just it cost you of 100 US $. nothing else

No, they donot take it seriously. They tell you better you come after so...much time.
It happned to my friend. First he tried for his wife and they told try after spending 12-18 motnhs. She was very new in Canada and next time(after 1 year) she took wedding card and they let her in .
wht they want proper papers and do not try to befool them. They are so smart
It is not big thing, otherwise, same things there but big rush and lot of unpleasant things.... there
But no doubt, I love Canada to live in.

Everyday lots of ppl coming from Toronto and or from windsor. You can justify that you have urgency and generally In Toronto waiting time is more.
I think it is easy to book an appointment in Ottaw US-CG

The US consulate website clearly states that they want people of Toronto apply in Toronto and not anywhere else for visitor visas.

While daisy*ottawa makes the process sound relatively 'casual' I don't think it is an ideal approach to take regarding a visa apptment. Regardless, from what I have seen, unless you are a PR the chances of you getting a long term (> 1yr) US visa are minimal, and obviously the risks of rejection are high.
For a PR(even with less than 1 yrs worth of working in Canada etc.) you can get a US visa relatively easily, obviously the stronger the ties to Canada the better.
