I am not sure what my stand on Same Sex marriages is. I am not overly committed one way or another. However, I do believe that it is a persons right to chose their way of living. I have a gay cousin, who is probably the best person that I know. Very religious, and not at all judgemental.
Somehow I dont think that people chose a life where people judge you because of your sexual preference. I dont think that anyone would in their right mind chose a life that is full of obstacles, hate, and condemnation. I believe that being gay is not a choice, it just is. Just like you are born with a predesposition to certain personality traits, you are born attracted to individuals of the same sex.
The bottom line: I am really not against people expressing their beliefs, just as long as those same people aren't pushing their beliefs on me and not respecting me for mine. As a muslim girl going to predominantly causcausian chirstian schools, I have been subjected to lectures about salvation...etc. We are all allowed to have our opinions. Lets not be ignorant and respect others for theirs....

Microsoft - Which end of the stick do you want today?
i'd rather that people love each other than be against the same :-).
As long as they are happy and do not impose their lifestyle on me I'm ok. I do the same for them.

Why do you have to explain someones private decisions to your kids at all? I do not encourage my 5 year old to find out what the neighbours are doing in bed. What two consenting adults do in their bedroom, irrespective of their sexual orientation, is not my kids problem and it should never be.
Having stippers or porn stars as neighbours will not make my kids either.
If anybody behaved inappropiately in front of my underage kids, no matter what their sexual orientation, I would object.
I would be more worried about the example I set as a parent to my kids. Are their parents in a loving relationship? Do they spend enough time with the kids and each other? That should be what the kids learn from. I am quite sure my neighbours cannot influence my kids sexual orientation.
Like the above poster mentioned I wonder why a person would want to knowingly be gay inspite of hostility, hate and condemnation. Do you have an answer for that? If not then it may well be that they have no choice. Just like our desi skin color...my daughter calls it Golden Brown:-).
I would just explain it like the first open minded caucassians in toronto may have explained their new Brown skinned neighbours from south asia with their different accents, language, appearance, religion, food, culture. If these things, which are more obvious, are not an issue why should sexual orientation (a highly individual issue) be?

You are right buddy, we don't need look at their private life - what I was talking was quite simple - a neighbour of you is gay couple - one is husband and one is wife - now if both are male, how can you explain to your kid that why one 'male' can be a wife?
This happen to my one friend in US, he lost on way and asked one man working on front yard of a house about some place, the man replied, "just a minute, let me ask my husband!!"
