Hi everybody
i have reached canada and joined university of saskatchewan for MS in chemical engg. I have come here with lots of hope and dreams and i was quite well equiped as i had done my homework quite nicely but one thing i wish to share with you when we are in india we think its very easy but upon reaching here we realize the reality but at the same time the person who absorbs the initial shock comes out with flying colors.

i believe that there r no members doing masters in canada so if somebody has any questions about education or job after edu in canada i will try to answer them to the best of my ability and knoledge.

You are right...the ability to absorb the initial shock is very important in settling in canada in the long run.
I think you have the right approach, keep your spirits high despite what ever hurdles come your way. The good thing I have experienced is that every struggle in the west has much greater chances of success than back home.

I do not know about prospects after MS, I had admission in Uof T in 2000 but I did not go for it as I landed a job in the US. But I am sure an MS will go a long way in helping you getting settled faster. People might tell you Univ of Sask is not that great but believe me ....any canadian MS degree is always a plus.

I do hope to get an MS one day, it is ironic ...my degree from bihar did not do that well in india but it got me great successes overseas so far.
Life is full of surprises.

Gook luck

Hi Pankaj

I am going to start my masters in U of Ottawa in computer science. I am little scared with the system that is followed here. I would really appreciate if you could give me some advices to bear that shock which you have talked about..
How different is the education system different from India? I have done from BE from REC jamshedpur in computer science.
I hope and pray that i fare well..

Waiting for your reply..

hi
its not that difficult and in fact its easier if you dont depend on cramming. here u get to know the fundamentals very well and u stay in india or here atleast u will justify ur profession that u know what u do. so i hope i have not made the things more comlicated for u

and univ of saskatchewan is one of the oldest and prestigious univ of canada but ppl generally dont know as it specilizes in specific areas only.
and it has been choosen for canadian light synchrotron facility the largest research project in north americ over past 50n yrs amounting to 110 million $

Hi Pankaj,

Just wanted to check some with you. Do you guys have quizzes, hws, presentations throughout the semster, on top of mid-terms and finals in Canada, more precisely in Sas?

Also, for grading is it letter grades or marks?

I did my stuides all through in the States and now thinking about relocating back to Canada.

Good luck with school!
