Hi,
I was on WP in Canada, and I have recently got my PR, so my SIN has been changed.
Would my employer be able to deduct tax using the old SIN or do I need to inform them about my new SIN ? is the old SIN still valid ?
Thanks,
You may want to check with Service Canada:

However my understanding is that if you originally had a SIN starting with "9" and now your new SIN starts with another number then you need to give the employer the new SIN.
The information about your new SIN and old SIN will likely be available via your credit report.

I was on Work-Permit and my SIN starts with digit 9. I had provided this SIN to my employer, so that they can deduct the Income tax at their end while paying me the salary. I have recently got my PR and would be applying for new SIN as my status has been changed.
There are a couple of queries I need clarification on:
1) Do I need to apply for new SIN at the earliest or getting it changed on a leter date would be fine as well?
2) If I get a new SIN and don“t let my employer know about that, would they(my employer) be able to deposit tax against my old SIN or they would get some kind of transaction failure while doing that ?
3) Is my old SIN valid for any IT/Tax purposes or it would no longer be valid for making any transactions agianst it(Tax deduction etc).
