Just got a forward from somewhere - something which provides food for thought.

Jade Goody, Shilpa Shetty's costar in Big Brother, and the one who called her a 'dog' has been invited by the government of India 'to visit India and experience the country's healing nature.'

I assume Goody will accept the invitation; after all she wants to feel cleansed from the bigotry she discovers she carries within herself. She boards one of the many private airlines that now fly all over India and has an astonished look on her face. "Is anything the matter Miss Goody?" asks the Indian official who has been deputed by the government to help 'heal' her.

"Yes!" says Miss Goody, "I thought Indians were brown!"

"Most of us are," said the Indian official, happy to help her in the discovery of India.

"Then why are all the flight stewards so fair? That man's whiter than me!"

"This airline's very particular!" says the official proudly, "They pick only the best!"

"Which are?"

"The fair ones of course!" exclaims the official, "They don't even look at the darkies!"

Miss Goody opens the newspaper and the government official notices she is keenly looking at the matrimonial section. "You planning to get married ma'am?"

"I doubt I'll have a problem in your country!" says Jade with a puzzled smile.

"Why madam?"

"All the ads ask for a fair bride!"

The plane lands at the capital and Jade and the government official walk out of the plane and find themselves at the baggage hall. A bearded man recognizes Jade and comes to her holding out his autograph book and pen.

"Don't!" hisses the official as he steers her away.

"He wants my autograph!" says Jade, "How sweet of him!"

"Have nothing to do with him!" whispers the official staring daggers at the bearded man.

"Why not?" asks a puzzled and very confused Jade.

"He is from the minority community! It will not help to be seen talking to him!"
"So?" asks Miss Goody, "isn't he an Indian?"

Jade looks at the official who has been designated to help heal her.

"I would like to visit this religious place I have heard so much about!" she says as she opens her guidebook to him.

"Oh no madam!"

"And why not?"

"You are a woman! Only men are allowed!"

It is a slightly different Jade who finally lands up in Bombay where she walks up to her colleague in Big Brother.

"Shilpa!" she yells.

"Hi Jade!" says Shilpa smoothening her own hair, touching her eyebrows and patting her nose, "How's the healing?"

"You b.." murmurs Jade quietly, "you've got more bigotry and racism here than was found on our show! You've grown up with it, what made you shed all those tears?"

"Ah!" says Shilpa, "me good actress no?"

Any thoughts on this???????

Sarcastic but quite real picture! Though I COMPLETELY disagree about scenario with MINORITY. So called Minority now practically runs polity in India. It would have been more appropriate to descibe the man seeking autograph being from so called "Upper Caste" as under Arjun and Madmohan rule, it is "Upper Caste" who are real untouchables.

Sonia Mata Zindabad (Isn't she "fair"?)
