if indians were British subjects and so were canadians how could they take away the vote? was canada allowed to make its own laws as a colony? something isn't making sense here
Rob
I just finished reading every post. This is the most interesting and informative thread that I have read in a very long time, Thank you Jesse. You are making us all proud.
I finished reading your book in a few hours. I Just loved it. I am not embarrassed to say that I had to wipe my tears more than once.
Thanks jess,
Proud to be your friend

Robby,
Thanks for your compliments. Canada only attained autonomy after World War One. Even though Canada earned its autonomy after the war, we still couldn't create our own laws until the Statute of Westminster in 1931 (I think that's the right date...in the early thirties). As a Dominon Canada could come up with an order-in-council which had to be approved by the crown. So you're right in questioning the Colony's right to steal from British subjects their right to vote. But they could enact orders-in-council. Now the question is which carries more weight: a) an order-in-council OR b) an EARNED inalienable right, i.e., Free Movement Within the Empire. It's debateable. Thanks for that question.

Thanks Kabir!! Everyone, Kabir is not only a great friend but a very intimidating sparring partner. He works with the children's publishing company and is an awesome illustrator. He also writes short stories and one day I hope he hands me a novel (signed of course) that brings tears to my eyes. Again, Kabir, thanks.
Jess
