Hi CD's
I have a friend of mine who has a export unit in India, and manufactures leather bags, purses, card organizors, etc. He is already exporting in small quantities to EU countries and Mexico, however, he is yet to make any sale in Canada/US.
Since presently I am at mom to my 1+ yr old, he has asked me to scout for prospective buyers here and whatever orders I can get for him, he will work out a percentage for me. He basically wants me to represent him in Canada/US. Not a bad idea, however, I dont have any prior EX/IM experience, so am looking for suggestions/help from you all.
-To start with, how do I find prospective buyers for these items?
-Where do I get the contact numbers of wholesellers/merchants who sells these items to the shopkeepers in the Flea markets?
-Who are the main importers of thse items in Canada/US?
I am ready to share my commission with anyone who can give me concrete leads. Also, open to joint venture/profit sharing options, if any !!!

It may be a good business.
Since you take deleivery in Canada, it is really very easy to take delivery from the air port/ sea port. There is no much red tape in Canada at all.
You could go to Flea markets and ask people from where they get their goods and then negotiate with the whole sale dealer.
IMO, This can offer very good returns. But you also would have to be very careful about the quality of goods. Leather goods is one stuff in which the chinese are still at their infancy.
If the products are really good, you could even contact Walmart/Sears/Bay etc.. to see if they are interested. Call to the head office of these companies and ask to speak with the person in charge of procurement.
All the best in your venture.
