'Khussa' is a Pakistani term 4 r desi 'jutties' .
Learned when I was wearing a pair of colorful Jaipuri 'nagras'(yet another term) 2 office and 1 Pakistani colleague remarked them as 'khussas' .
In Japur they cost aroun Rs 100/- to Rs 200/- on an average (a pittance as compared 2 $20/- ) . Though fit 4 traditional occassions may not be very durable .

Manasvi
Not to worry Pramod - how are you to know if I am male or female unless I tell you.
I have googled the terms you all suggested to me, and now I will try Japur/Jaipuri.
I thank you all so much as I would have never known what to call them when I went out looking. Now I am prepared!
Not only do these shoes provide the 'no-added height' that I am looking for, but they are also so beautiul. I appreciate the delicate handiwork put into each pair.
I must also confess that I did have a bit of a look around the boards here the last two days, and I really like what I see. You are all so very considerate of one another - this is not so common on other discussion boards I have seen. What a nice change. I must say that I almost felt like I was intruding though, as I am not desi. But since you have invited me to participate, I will be sure to keep checking in to see what new topics are open for discussion. Thank you for everything.
