Are you not from India? What made you so surprised and ignorant about food prices in India? were you born in Canada? When did you come here? Did you convert your CAD income to INR?

samosas are also cheaper there, 10 for a dollar; Wheat flour and many other things cheaper too. so what?

Don't know about other places but while in Pune recently, roadside vada pavs were at Rs.2-4 each depends where you bought them. One dollar for 4 sounds expensive.
