No, I am not referring to 'note for note cut for cut' one....
Although, as you mentioned they have good cover bands too...
I have been to a few of those too...
Recenty, they had AC/DC's Highway to Hell...I didn't make it.
Also, after the Roger Water's show on the 20th of July, Healey's club had the 'Darrkest Side of Moon' for the "After Roger Waters party'......it wasn't too bad, but if you have just returned from the Roger waters show, complete with all the graphics and the hype, the Darkest Side certainly seemed mediocre, and it didn't take me too long to wander off towards the pool table !
Am really looking forward to the Led Zep cover though, as I have known them to play really well....
Also, since you mentioned Jimi Hendrix, it's strange that you don't have Jim Morrison on your list !

It's a pity Led Zep doesn't play anymore....I have a few tickets for the 28th of July to a downtown club that plays Led Zep (I have seen them a few times and they are REALLY good!)
They are supposed to play Led Zep 2 and Led Zep 4 in their entirety. (I have seen them perform these albums seperately, but not on the same night, and they seem to know what they are upto).
I am not sure if I can spare a couple of tix, but will let you know if I have spare ones....
Also, are you fond of Johny Cash ?

Led Zep's great drummer John Bonham is no more. That said, way back in the 70's I saw only Jimi and Robert jam with some Indian musicians at Slip Disc, Mumbai next to radio Club. Amazing! sans Jones and Bonham
They stopped playing as a band when Bonham was no more.
Are you referring to the "note for note cut for cut" discographies that Q107 announces on its radio. Some of them are pretty cool. I have seen some do Led Zep, Beatles and Pink Floyd. As a matter of fact among the guys who do The Pink Floyd cover is a South Asian dude.

I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible.
But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.
Yeah, Tom petty IS awesome !
I have a friend here in Toronto who is in his 60's, and has worked with a band member of Alice Cooper...He has stories about how they used to own a design firm together, and a couple of decades back, when their business was booming, with a lot of projects especially in Niagra Falls, they were really bogged down with work....and he says they couldn't help it, but they literally had a heap of 'the white stuff' sitting there while they tried to meet the deadlines...
Anyway, so last year, I was driving around with this guy, before the Tom Petty and the Roger Waters show (they were in the same month, I think), and since he was a 'veteran rock fan', I asked him if I could only go for one show, which one should I go for.....and without a pause, he says, "Tom Petty !!!"
Although I did end up attending both of them, Tom Petty certainly was memorable, to say the least.
As far as Def Lep are concerned, weren't they ALWAYS pop-ish ?
You better check Aerosmith out before THEY keel over !!!
Will keep you posted on the pseudo Led Zep gig....

I saw Ozzy a few years back actually. It wasn't part of Ozzfest. I am not a huge fan of that festival...don't like most bands that show up for it.
I followed Def Leppard till Pyromania and Hysteria. They turned too pop-ish after that...no?
Aerosmith...yes, need to see them once before I keel over.
I don't think anyone on this planet can duplicate Zep, but I get what you are saying. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Do keep me posted.
Johnny Cash is the only country artist I like...and I liked him even before the movie came out to be honest. A lot of my friends jumped on the wagon after the movie. It was akin to everyone talking about "Pinot Noir" after watching "Sideways".![]()

Re Janis- I'll have to take that back 'cos I did see her at Martha's vineyard in spring 1970 in an informal jam. She just happened to be there with a few others like Joan Baez, Grace Slick, Jorma Kaukonnen (Airplane), Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir and many others. They had their instruments with them and were drugged out like crazy and sorta just got up and did their thing for all the freaks there. She sang her signature "Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz, my friends all got Porsches, I must make amends.." and a song from Big Brother and the Holding co.
There was no sound sysem set up, just the amps to their guitars, a drum set, a proto Moog and vocals. That was something else....
Grace and Joan also joined in.

Just for your info,
I was at the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971 as well. With Leon Russell, Klaus Voorman along with Clapton, Harrison, Ringo Starr.First mega concert with so many people of different bands joining together for a benefit. Only $250,000 was raised. Didn't even make a dent in the funds needed for Bangladesh.
Ravi Shankar and Alla Rakha were there too, and as Ravi Shankar came on, he asked everyone to stop smoking (grass) and believe you me all the joints, pipes, bongs, whatever were doused by the public.
They of course lit up again in a few minutes, but the immediate reaction was awesome.
Anybody going to the Hippiefest tonite? With The Turtles (So happy together),Country Joe McDonald (Come on all you big strong men...), Mountain with Leslie West (Mississippi Queen, Roll over Bethoveen..). It's at Molson Amphi...
