Your situation applies to many people and others feel and wonder why this person is not able to do more to get a job ...
Regarding your situation... you mauy start some continuing education courses. Never think about its content. All courses have some thing new ... may be just a new environment.
Never underestimate a course...
Thereafter try a longer course .. if still looking for a job.
I am also from IIT but never did much engineering job. Never liked it. Here , I am not able to get much.. may be because I am not ready to devote full energy in finding a job and not ready/able to take risk.
Now I am getting bored by doing simple job.. .
I feel I should go to US and try it out. May be it works....

IIT guys working in the Greater Toronto Area in a senior positions , Please contact them through your Alumni, I know one guy sure and I heard about other guy but not met him. Do not spin your wheel if you are not success in six months, try other avenues. All the very best to relaunch your career.
