You guys are probably wondering “how many professions does this guy have?!” Lol Well, thing is, I don’t have any yet. I’m going to enter the job market in a couple of months. Anyway, straight to my question, what are the prospects of a Graphic Designer? Also, since we don’t have a University/UGC recognized course in graphic design, we ( in India) are compelled to pursue them from private institutes ( NIIT, Aptech and Arena). Will I be able to mention this education (from pvt. Inst.) in my application? Another thing is I have a Bachelors degree in Commerce, now there is absolutely no connection between design and commerce. So will I be allowed to mention my work experience as a graphic designer in my application since it says that the work exp. must be relevant to the field of education? Any information will be appreciated. Thank you.

Mentioning private institutions should be fine, as long as you have received some formal edu in the field. Bcom is okay to mention.e.g: by bro did BA then did a course in film/adbvertising...and is now directing ad films/serials etc. He mentioned all in his application

hey jake, thanks for the information. I was a little apprehensive because the CIC website says that the work expernce you mention on ur immigration application must be related to the education that you have received. And I cannot establish any connection between my education (commerce) and my work exp. (as a graphic designer). Also, can you explain the "as long as you have formal education in it" part? The problem is, I dont have any formal education in the filed of graphic design simply cause we dont have any formal courses! We only have private institues that conduct courses in graphic design :| I'm stuck in this dilemma now. Anyway, thanks once again for the reply.

BTW, i see your in montreal. A lot of my friends live in montreal. I hear its a pretty city, lots of gothic architecture as well. Sweet deals.

thats what I meant...any certificate courses. E.g: the course my bro did in XIC was for 8 mths.
