Apologise for the multiple posts.. should have mentioned this in the last post. This is for everyone who wants to go for the required PM training. Before you go for the training is better if you can study as much of the PMBOK as possible. That way you can utilise your limited time with the mentor in extended Q and A sessions rather than just going through slides.

Sedusingh,
I was planning to go for PMP training through the U of T evening program, i have chosen this course because of people recommendations on this forum and the reputation of U T.
Here are the list of books that i am planning to go through as a reference material, in the following order. I am planning to buy these books.
1) Fundamentals of Technology Project Management
2) Head First PMP: A Brain-Friendly Guide to Passing the Project Management Professional Exam (Head First)
3) PMP Exam Prep, Fifth Edition: Rita's Course in a Book for Passing the PMP Exam - Rita Mulcahy;
4) PMBOK
5) The Fast Forward MBA in Project Management, Second Edition - Eric Verzuh;
6) Some other practice test materials which could be found online.
Please let me know if the study material I have chosen would be ok for the preparation, or is there any other material i should focus on.
If you could send me some material you have that would be awesome.

Ok here are the 2 options i am considering
This one is a weekend program (Completes in less than a month)
http://www.apsc.utoronto.ca/pdcweb/asp/classinfo.asp?XCODE=PM401&CLASCODE=F2
This one is an evening program (Takes around 3 months, 1 session every week in the evening)
http://www.apsc.utoronto.ca/pdcweb/asp/classinfo.asp?XCODE=MG117&CLASCODE=Y
Regarding hands on i am an Architect/Analyst with over 10 years exp. i work very closely with the project manager and knows what the process are that needs to be followed, Its just i have never managed those process myself. I have been more involved on the architecture and development side of things.
My main reason to do PMP is, I plan to move to India next year after spending over 9 years here and i feel that being in the architecture/development side all along, in India I would be at a dis-advantage (in terms of position and salary) as with over 10 years of exp you should be able to show Indian employers that you have been managing projects or at least you are qualified to manage projects.
Hi Atyagi,
When u say u are an architect/Analyst is that with respect to the field of contruction/ Architecture or in IT ?
The reason I am asking is my huband is an Architect ( construction / design field) and has just passed his PMP two weeks back. He works as a Project Manager and taking the PMP was a pre-requisite of his job.Will ask him to post in his experience if u both are in similar fields.
Am in IT software development (telecom/semiconductor)
