When everything was going smooth
We heard this news that Dravid, Laxman & Ganguly not in ODI team

We can Consider for Laxman but Dravid & Ganguly 100% deserves to be in team

Also what's point in announcing team jsut before 4th test
What will be the moral of team
It say Dhoni not interested in Ganguly

Just read on TOI
As evening descended, Ganguly chose to tear himself away from the crowd and take a quiet walk towards the Swan river which flows behind the hotel.

His steps weary and his eyes dazed, one of India's most valiant cricketers had just been dealt a blow he did not deserve.

However, a few hours before the team announcement, the left-hander was cheerful as he celebrated the triumph at WACA and proclaimed that Indians were playing the Australians better than any other side in the world.

I agree its not correct decision & its at wrong time

Any comments

Yes I do agree with you this is not correct decision.Rumour is Dhoni wanted to have an young team and it's much easier for him to have a better control when a strong personality like Saurav is not around.
I believe now it's time for Saurav to concentrate on his family and of course he has a very bright future as a TV expert commentator.
After his dedication and contribution to Indian cricket he definately doesn't deserve this partcularly when he has the best performance in 2006-2007 as far as Indian cricketers are concerned.
Lessons learned (even in our professional life)....we should try to be easy going (like Sachin) to avoid ego and pesonality conflict.

Eventhough Saurav's fielding during the third test was terrible, I dont think dropping Saurav was a good decision. If Suresh Raina or Virendra Sehwag is replacing Saurav, then good luck to Indian team!!

I dont think dropping is bad idea at all. Timing of announcement could have been better but then somebody has to take Logistics also in to consideration. T20 is on Feb 1st & ODI starts on Feb 3rd.

Laxman was never in contention for ODI. Rahul can still come back but its done deal with Saurav.

Replacements could have been better but lets see.

Thats what I was saying, selection come at wrong time

Everyone knows Dhoni not interested in taking Ganguly ( as per Media)

Now when this two guys or say even Dravid & Laxman will play together along with Dhoni what will be situation?

It is more important to win next test & level series than this bloody selection
Its 100% not good for Team Moral

They says Ganguly & Dravid can come back & its not end for ODI
Can some one tell me how?

How many ODI tournament are played in India ( domestic cricket)

So now 2 things need to happen in order to play Ganguly & Dravid
1. They need to play ODI matches in India ( which is hardly there)

2. Young players who are replaced for Ganguly & Dravid need to perform badly or say because of this players, India need to lose few matches

Then & Then only Ganguly & Dravid can come back

Also see who are the replacement for this great players
Gambhir & so called company
This players will always play against WEAK attack like Pakistan, Zimbabwe etc.

But when time comes to play against Aus & other good team, they will never perform

Latest example of Yuvraj Singh

With the T20 and 1-day games starting within 10 days, guess there was not much option with the timing anyways. Some time is needed to send the guys to Aus and have them get used to the different timezone.

In a test, may be we can get away with the current level of fielding, but in 1-day, probably it will leak 20-40 runs!! If one is looking at 2011 WC, then probably this is the time to go for youth anyways. Give them the experience against the best team at their own home. It is probably the toughest test and will reveal who will succeed and who will fail at that level.

As mumdxbcan said, if the youth fails, then we will see dada back in the team. Dravid was dropped against Pak... Ganguly against Aus... guess, Sachin is next up. - waiting to see when that comes and the media reaction!

It is a bold move and i hope that it works. One can never decide when to drop good players but it is a fact that the trio of Ganguly, Dravid & Sachin is not getting any younger. Coupled with the fact that in the last 12 months some new faces have shown tremendous talent and temperament.
One name that stands out is Robin Utappa, he has it in him to be a great one day player. Also Rohit Sharma has looked good.
The bowling department looks good and that is something that had not been upto the mark a few years back.
