I dont even know what he bowls..from the article I got the impression he is medium/fast bowler as throughout it kept discussing fitness problems of fast bowlers and also he mentions he wanted to partner with Zaheer Khan!!!

Anyways, the point in the post was after all the hush-push to have him immediately available for the first ODI, even after the captains phone call, he does not figure in the 11 - these guys surely need some 'professional management lessons'.

Rakesh Patel is not a Spinner. He is Right Arm Medium Pacer.
I think he was called mainly to substitute. You need at least 2 extra around.

Yep he sure is ... my mistake on that ...... Now dravid has said that the Indian defeat was due to its "poor scoring in last ten overs " .... i thought the bowling was what lead to our defeat ....... even though we were short by about 20 runs ... but our score was defendable ...... think he is barking up the wrong tree........

When the interviewer asks questions to losing caption why they lost, the question and answer both looks funny to me. Anyone can easily guess what was wrong.

Typical Answers by Indian Captions.

Our top order didn't worked

We did not scored well in last overs

We were short by 30 runs

We lost early wickets

Our bowlers gave too many runs.

We should have got couple of wickets early on.

..........

Why such fun? Losers are losers after all, why excuse?

I agree completely.
The only captain in recent times who was different in this regard was Azhar.
He would usually say something simple like "we didn't play well overall", or (more often) credit the other team with having played a better game.

To this day, I live in shock at his involvement with match fixing and subsequent sacking.

He would take Loss just as a part of Game with lines like "We didn't play Good Cricket" even in his early days as captain.

But then again, if all allegations are true then he can't reveal 'real' reasons in presentations. :D

Agarkar took two early wickets yesterday, but it is not a big deal. He should have taken 5 wickets ;)

Z Khan 7 0 29 1 4.14
AB Agarkar 6 0 21 2 3.50
RP Singh 6 2 15 0 2.50

BTW, RP Singh bowled very well!!
