Sashu,
I found the following Information at CIC's New Delhi Website:
Skilled Workers and other categories
On December 3, 2003, our Minister announced the coming into force of important amendments to the transitional regulations pertaining to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). The amendments will allow federal economic class applicants who filed their application for permanent residence before January 1, 2002, to be assessed against the selection criteria of the former regulations or those of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, whichever are more favourable. Please click here for more information.
Due to these changes, we are currently unable to predict processing times other than for the stage indicated below.
Since application received in New Delhi:
******************************************
* Confirmation of receipt of application: 9 months *
* First review: 28 months *
* Interview: 42 months *
******************************************
Further information will be published on this website as it becomes available.
To speed up the processing of your application, we would strongly recommend that you complete the new IRPA application forms and take a third party language test. The new application forms and information on how to take a language test from an approved institution are available on our website.
************************************
This should give you an estimated idea of how long it takes for the whole process. Just a word of advice, "Have Patience and Don't ever lose hope" . I waited for 2 long years before I got mine and I know it can be very frustrating but the trick is to keep a positive attitude.
Best of Luck
DT

although official estimate is 42 months, we have seen an increasing number of visas being issued within the 30 months mark.

Massodji,
This 24-30 month mark hold good for many of the 2000/2001 applicants. Anybody who skip's the date 31st Dec 2001 and made a mistake to apply on or after 1st Jan 2002 ,the 42+ timings hold good. My best of luck to all the 2002 & afterwards applicants to have long patience. -)
Regards
