Hi ,
Recently a new immigrant i know went to a company called "Source security" for some advertised security positions.
He was told they conduct 1 week training and charge 200$ for a security license and then send u on positions for 14$ per hr.
Sounds a bit phony to me..
Any body have such experience or know of this company please share..
Thanks

I would recommend to beware of such agencies.
Someone i know had paid the fees and also for uniform and is still waiting to hear from them after 8-9 months.
I mean physical security...

What kind of license they issue? Is it for physical security(Security Guard) or online security? I don't know about physical secirity but online security cerifications cost a lot. CISSP costs $500 and one should have at least 4 years of experience in IT security to qualify for taking the test.

SANS-GIAC security certification too cost $500. Different certifications have different requirements. Check it out at:
http://www.giac.org/
CISA costs US $375 for ISACA members and US $505 for Nonmembers. Details at:

The way this friend of mine was talked to, to me it seemed like a scam.. but he was conviced that they are for real.
The deal was similar.. training for license and uniform..
If it was that easy to get a security position paying 14$ an hour, i am sure immigrants would make a beeline there instead of Tims, McDees and other places.
I am now convinced it is a scam..

I saw recently saw an ad for Securitas.ca who are looking for security guards in Kitchener-Waterloo region. They provide the training. No need to pay the fees.

Kitchner , waterloo would be too far for him to even apply/appear for interview. They are located in Bramptonistan..
The person just showed me the card and the card looked totally phony...
