Search "McAfee trial" on google. You can get trial version. Worst case, you'll have to re-install/re-search every few months.
But when it comes to antivirus, free and good don't go together.
Well, sometimes they do, but you get "trial" added to it.

Microsoft has some antispyware - don't remember the name, but do a search on microsoft dot com for "antispyware". It's free. I've used it and found good. Downloading is pain, it validates your windows.

I'd only care about : antivirus, firewall, antispyware.
Rest all you can live without.
Your browser might have "disable popups".
"disc optimizer" sounds funny.
"fraud protection", hmm .... what's that for? (If you don't have virus and spyware, what you need protection from?)
"web privacy control" .. not sure what it would help.

AVG - free anti virus
Spybot - spyware... adaware is another option
ZoneAlarm - firewall

First of all, get a Linksys router/firewall with built-in NAT feature from Wal-Mart or Staples.
This is a hardware firewall and takes care of more than 50% of the problems of exposed computer on the Internet.

The other 50% are problems caused by stuff that you download and run on your computer, such as malware, spyware, etc.

For that, turn up the security settings on your browser.
Internet Explorer classifies websites into three main zones - Internet, Secure and Restricted and allows you to set permissions for each.
You may set the permissions to Low or Low/Medium for Secure zone.
But this should include ONLY sites like Govt sites (CIC, CRA, etc.) and your office internet/intranet sites (like your office email).

For Restricted sites, set security to Highest level.
This prevents all ActiveX controls, Java Applets, embedded scripts, videos, etc.
This ensures that "bad" websites will not be able to automatically download and run malware.
You can add sites using wildcards in each of the zones.
This allows you to add all suspect sites in this category.

For general internet sites, you may set it to Medium or Medium/High or select each setting individually.
It's better to leave most of the settings to Prompt in this case so that you can choose which type of content and which sites to allow and which to block.

You don't need to install a host of anti spyware applications on your computer.
Quite often, those start to slow down the computer and create more problems than they solve.
But you do need a good anti-virus software.
Norton and McAfee are the 2 top names in the business.
There are some free ones too like Clamwin.
Research them well if you wish to install.
But if this is your primary computer, it may be worthwhile to pay for a single user license of Norton or McAfee.

Good luck !

Pratick covered everything - can't think of adding anything else ...

Norton's Single User License is good to use on 3 Computers. Primary, Secondary & Tertiary - all three are covered.

Just FYI, once u connected to internet, u cannot trust 100% on any antivirus software. You can unknowingly install key logger application (Even clicking a normal link which looks good) from an untrusted web site which can steal username/password. Things are very dangerous if u do online banking. In such case an antivirus application cannot protect you as these spywares exploit the security holes in browsers(especially in IE) and IE process runs with full trust in the context of antivirus application.
