Guys,

I have problem.
My PC is running very slow. I checked the Windows task manager and found a file fssm32.exe is using up 99% of the CPU. I googled and tried to find a solution but all that is Greek and Latin to me. I am not an IT guy. I called the Internet provider through whom I have downloaded the security software but their service is worse then a govt. hospital in the remotest part of India. They say that our security software uses too much space so if you do not like get another one! I knew there is nothing like free lunch.

But now do you have any solution? If not I need to buy a better security solution? Any suggestions?

Download this trial version. Lasts for a month. Should clean up your system.

"fssm32.exe" I believe is your FSecure antivirus process.

Who is your internet service provider? If you have Rogers high speed like I do, you can get Norton antivirus for free (and a bunch of other stuff). I have it installed on our laptop at home and it works like a charm. Bell should be offering something similar.

If you wish to stick to FSecure because you have purchased it, then take a close look at its settings. Sometimes, they have an option called "On Access Scan" which when enabled scans a file every time it is accessed (for reading or writing). It can be HUGE a process/memory hog as it is predominantly geared toward EXEs and DLLs. Disable this. Of course, if you disable it, then you will need to make sure you diligently schedule a scan to mitigate any risk.

Thanks a lot.

My internet service provider is Cogeco. So F-secure is free for me. I think I have to purchase something more reliable now.
