This thread reminds of an incident back in India .We had a relative visiting us and mom served samosas with tea. She served samosa in a plate with spoon. Now uncleji makes his first dig in the samosa with the spoon and we see the samosa flying across the table and land in our dog's bowl on the floor . We all understood that he was not comfortable using tools and we all started eating samosa wth hands so that uncle didn't feel embarrassed.
We did have a good laugh after he left!
There's something SO WRONG about eating a samosa with a spoon (of all things). Kinda like having soup with a fork.![]()

Hold on though, that's not a real samosa anymore. You've made some sort of Khasta kachori out of it.
Although the relevant part is, do you then eat the "outside part" with your hands?

Yummy !!! Kachori , samosa mmmmm!!!
If served with Alu subzi or chole and lots of chutney...go for spoon but if mom is making them and you just can't wait..just grab n eat.
morning_rain you just reminded me of my younger sis who used to eat like you...we used to share..i gave her the peel and she gave me her aloo!
I once saw a young lady enjoying Gole Gappe with spoon in Delhi...NOW thats what I would call hmmmmmm well CHOICE!!!
But no seriuosly how we choose to eat sometimes does depend on one's company and situation.
For example, What would you do if
1. You are invited to your boss's house for lunch and are served Pizza with fork and knife. (It has never occurred to you in ur life that people eat pizza with fork n knife)
2. You go to a Chinese restaurant for a formal dinner and are not comfortable using chopsticks.

-sorry to say but i can't enjoy samosa, kachori or anything similar with spoon, i enjoy using my hand (hath se khanee kaa apnaa hi mazaa hai)
-like it's been already said "Enjoy the food anyway you like but make sure you are not messy"

Samosa and chole! Ummm...... Somone please invite me when they make it.
We used to eat it in Brar in Brampton years back. With a cup of tea, its a cool lunch. I used to eat samosa with hand and chole by spoon, kind of mixing them while chewing. I think Brar has stopped serving it.
