I am just posting this message because My friend have serious Health insurance issues.As he is international student, he is working part time in university. As he is taking semester off but he is continuing his part time job at the same university where is he studying.Last week he was teaching a student in the university, He felt down and staff called the ambulance, he went to the hospital. but he had not any insurance.But I am wondering is it the university responsibility to pay the all hospital bills for the university, because he is a employer.or he have to pay by self, because the incidence has happened at the university while teaching.

Let us take one item at a time.
Your friend is a 'Student' in full time study at a 'University' and he is on a student Visa.
He also has a work permit to work part time at that location.
Does his work involve teaching and he does it on a part time basis?
All of a sudden he packs up studying and ONLY works, but part time?
Do you think this is correct?
What is his status now, if he is not studying?
Why did he come into this country if not to study?
The above mentioned questions are for you to ask and verify. Will you do that?
He might get deported out of Canada if he has not done that through the proper channels.
Now coming to the FALL and the ambulance and hospitalization costs.:
Does he have the International Student's Insurance, through the University?
Even if he has 'Student Insurance', if he is not a student and has not paid the tuition fees, he is out of luck. So, that part of it goes out through the window.
If he has coverage through the employment portion, which they normally do, He would have to enroll in it and then ask them to provide the coverage. Has he done that? If not,...
Now he has to work backwards and tell the University what happened. Even then he might have to pay first and then collect it after wards. As far as the cost of the ambulance, he has to foot that bill, unless he has that coverage. (Most of us don't.)
Now can you get back to us and tell us what his status is and how he is doing in the hospital?

Thanks for your reply. In response to your reply, my friend is currently on student visa and he also have off campus work permit. He spouse to take fall semester full time, But unfortunately university is not providing his last semester courses this year , So thts why he have to step back and take this semester off. As he has permission on his study permit he can work on on campus. So he was working and this incidence happened. I went to the H.R person, they told me we provide insurance to the permanent or canadian citizen person not to the international student. So they are not helping with anything. Also he had no insurance for this semester, because he is not studying. But is it his fault or university fault who is not providing the courses for him. And according to university standards anything wrong happen while working university is responisible for that. I really need your help what i have to do in this situation. I hope i will get ur reply as soon. Thanks again.
