Hello Mr. Masood,
I am an international student here in Canada. After graduating from a 3 year diploma (Computer Programmer) from Georgian College, Barrie, I went to university for further studies. I have 1 year experience from coop and also working at the university part time for 8 months now. Since I could not get a work permit with in 90 days after my graduation from the diploma, my concern is now that, is it possible now even if I get a job offer from a company?
Here are a few issues which I know about or that have to be proven by the company hiring me:
a) In what way I am better than Candian applicants or in other words why do they prefer me over them?
b) Have I done a special research, some kind of special certification in my field or is it something else?
So, whats so special about me and as far as I have heard that they also have to show proof of the interviews held for the particular position. I am not sure how true is this information that I have but can you please advise me on this decison or rather
inform me whether getting a work permit in this way i.e. after 90 days is possible?
Regards,
GauravBK
You are no longer eligible for the post-graduation work-permit [which does not require HRSDC confirmation].
You may apply for a work-permit if the employer can get a positive labour market information from HRSDC [approval of the job offer]. This is the tricky bit. Employer has to convince HRSDC that you have such skills that they coudn't locate in Canada. The more unique your skills, the better your chances.
