More than four in 10 Canadian employers have or are planning to lay off staff in the coming months as the onset of recession and the global financial crisis pushes business profitability to the brink.
But as employment conditions sour, employers should aim to boost moral and keep their talented workers by improving communication with staff, a survey by consulting firm Watson Wyatt found.
It showed that 44% of companies surveyed had either made or were planning layoffs or staff reductions over the next year as the recession takes hold.

My company started it a while back and its still going. And this time it is reckless...every Tom, Dick and Harry that thought he was safe is getting canned. And this is the absolute worst time to get laid off...no one hires the end of year and normally a job market picks up by Feb. But this time apparently next year is going to get worse...
I am just keeping my head down and working away...bad times though.
