Hi,
Fresh of the boat in Canada, I was wondering if any body here could guide me on how good it is to take up finance as career in Canada. Have bachelors in Commerce /Diploma in Finance Management from India but more experience in accounting and little work experience in finance does it make sense to go into this field in Canada. If yes then any gurus in this field can please advise what stream(mutual funds, insurance sector etc.)would have better future prospects and what would be the best canadians acceptable education for this. What are entry level finance jobs in Canada?
Thanks,
Cherry
There are quite a few options that you have. You can join the mutual funds and financial investment industry. For that you need to complete the CSC (Canadian Securities Course) or the mutual funds course. The CSC is definitely better. Go to the Canadian Securities Institute web site and they have all the details. Joining the CSC will also show prospective employers that you are committed and willing to learn. Employers like it when you take an initiative.
After the CSC, you have several options open to you, CFA, Derivatives, options - whatever interests you. You will probably find a decent entry level position once you are enrolled into the CSC - banks are always looking for entry level positions. But I must remind you that finding a job in Canada is not easy but enrolling in a Canadian course will definitely improve your chances.
Hey Kal,
Thank you for your reply. I lost hope that any one would reply to my post. The information is definetely helpful for me to take a step forward. I think I will go for the CSC course.
cheers
Cherry
