Hello Friends....
My wife is having her interview for VISA at US CONSULATE - TORONTO ( Mid Feb 2009) and my question is that how to take her to Consulate with my 6 months baby.
I am planning to give her a ride so that i can take care of my baby in the car till she come back ( Hope this is not a bad idea).
Any parking lot closer to consulate???? Seriously i don't know any place near or around consulate.... I am very new to that place...
If i take subway ??? what do you think......
I don't want to leave my baby with Baby sitter.........
Friends, Please advice me how should i plan( BY Car or Subway )
If by car, where should i park my car and any place where i can wait for my wife with my baby
If by subway, then any place where i can wait for my wife with my baby
Please advice.........................
Few things to keep in mind
1. If you take the subway, where do you plan on waiting with your baby, considering the fact it's cold you have to wait at a place where it's warm
2. If you drive, your wife should know where you are waiting, 'cause she cannot take a cell fone inside. She could come out and call you using a payphone. Again you cannot wait in the car, unless you keep the car running and warm for both of you.
I do not know the area around there so unable to advice on nearby parking lots. Suggest visit the area (preferably on the weekend) prior to the appointment and plan accordingly.

Hi,
It is not a big Deal. I will suggest you take subway. There is a Tim Horton near US Consulate. As you will use the Back enterance, it is on the corner. All US Visa aplicant's relative/friend wait there. Just Drink 2-3 coffes, your wife should be out in between 30- 60 mins from consulate. Parking is extremely difficult in that area.
This is my personnel experience. As far as I remeber, this Tim Horton opens around 7 AM.

The US consulate is on University Avenue. The actual entrance is from the backside of the building (from SIMCOE street). There is a 'paid' parking lot on University Avenue, just north of the building, but on the opposite side of the road. Thats the nearest parking lot. But you need to bear in mind that the total walk from your car upto the entrance may be close to 800-900 mtrs (1 way). Depending upon the weather that day - it may/may not be very comfortable.
As Desidriller suggested, travel by subway and waiting at Tim Hortons seems a good option.
Good luck.

There is a parking opposite to the timmies as well.. but parking in general is expensive.. one option is you can drop the wife by university ave just north of the US consulate.. you can access the simcoe st thru the side of the big building there. It will save some walk for ur wife... then u can wait in the timmies..
also, be sure to take the return envelope (Xpress post) with you.. even though that is optional, they will send her out to get one, if she is not carrying it with her.
Thankyou very much.
Then, i will plan by subway and wait at Tim Hortons...
Anyhow, the appointment is around 1:00 PM
The only problem with the subway is that i have to go in the bus to subway..
How about i park my car at Kippling subway and take subway to Consulate....
Can anyone tell me what subway should i take to Consulate....
Because i never took subway..
Please directions
Thanks again......
From Kipling, take the Bloor line going east. Get off at Spadina, go up one level, then take the University-Yonge line going SOUTH to St.Andrews station.
Others can correct if they have a better suggestion.
Good luck.
