Summary -

GIC interest is paid on the day of maturity. If the indices are doing good on that day, you get good rate, if not poor rates. No compounding of interest rate over 3 or 5 years or no averaging of rates, etc.

Deposit non-cashable until maturity date.

Principal is protected.

Please elaborate what you mean by

maximum is 10% or 52%?

Or is it minimum 10%?

Please see the TD link I posted one above your post. They have different GIC plus options, each of them pegged to different indices. Each of these offer different maximums - one is at 10%, other one at 24%, another at 52% and so on.
