For those CD's that have signed up for the auto pre-paid plan with G3telecom -If g3telecom drops their rates, the customer is expected to call the Call Centre to get the rate changed on their account.
G3telecom will not change the rate on their own.
They dropped their auto-prepaid rate to India to 6.9c on July 1, 2008. I had a lengthy discussion with the call centre manager today. His argument was they introduced a new plan, in short it is the same old plan just with a new rate. In order to avail of the new rate (or to get transferred to the new plan), the customer is expected to call to avail of the new rate. Their medium of informung the customer of the new rate is thru their website.
Not knowing when the rate is changed, here are the steps to be followed:
1. Check the g3telecom website to find out the new rate
2. Check your statement to figure out the rate you are beung charged
3. If the rate has changed, call customer service to change the rate
4. Make your call
The call centre manager confirmed that these are the steps to be followed if you want to have the advantage of the new rate
This may even be true with the regular pre-paid account (not auto recharge)

Startec does the same thing. They will not change your rate if rate gets lowered unless you check your bill and call them back. Startec also charges about 12% carrier cost recovery fee that you should add if you are comparing rates with other carriers like G3.

Growing Old Is Mandatory ..Growing UP is Optional
I had the same experience as sudesh. I asked for the refund for the calls made after they dropped rates, but they refused saying it is not automatic and you are expected to call for the lower rates. And when I asked what happpens if the rates go up and the reply was in that case the change to new rates is automatic.
But other than that my experience with G3 so far is good.
is it applicable only for auto recharge ? I charge it once or twice a week depending on use. I am not using auto recharge . Do I need to call customer service of G3 Telecom ?
