Hi,
SAP is for people who are in their line of profession and who want to combine their job with IT (Like Accountants, HR people, Mech. Engineers working in shop floor, Logistics people etc...). The main point is that No programming is there is SAP and it is basically reflection of your profession in IT and you get paid like crazy for it ( $100 per hour or more). However, right now all IT field is down and SAP is no exception. When IT picks up SAP is the only software which goes like crazy and employment prospects are huge. I myself am depening on that.
FICO has been seperated to FI and CO. So these are 2 diff modules.
There are mainly 3 institutes offering FI and CO which are good. The teachers depends on the institutes. Always check the faculty.
Fees is $1800-$2300 (depends on negotiation). 6 months to life long system access will be provided upon registration. Notes as softcopies will be given.
All courses are 80 (offically 60) hours in length and happens only once a week. So you are looking at 12 - 14 weeks for completion.
Certification is $700 per attempt.
Hope this helps.
I can help you further if you need any more insider info.

Peace by a PD

Hi,

Thanks a lot for quick and informative reply. I didnt expect I will get it too fast.
You are absolutely right about training. Majors training providers here are ERPTeck, MyErppartners, MLC college etc. I attanded info session in all three of them and I am considering myerppartner becoz they give unlimted system access so we can practice at home anytime. Do you have any personal experience with this training provider and have any feedbak from your freind or someone else?

The company I am working for right now has already implemented SAP but I dont work on SAP. I have different job role and not related to SAP. Do you have any idea which kind of a position or title I should search for once I get certification?? I am absolutely from nonIT background. My specialization in in Finance and accountancy that is why FICO is in my mind. (I know its two different modules).

I have searched a lot about SAP and gone through various online forum and the end of the day I am absoultely confused I should go for this or not as I dont have any expereince in SAP and people say without implementation expereince its very tough to break the shell. I have also read somewhere that in Canada scope is limted as very few companies work on SAP. US and India is full of opportunites.

Honestly I have no idea what to do. Your suggestions matters a lot so please be kind enough to guide me and assist me in taking appopriate decision.

Thanks a lot,

Regards

You can PM me and I can share some confidential information which will act in your benefit. In many cases, people (incl. me) blindly pay the money and join without thinking of how much money your provider makes for sub standard education.
The key is the faculty. Without this all the rest is immaterial. OTOH, if you have Finance / Accountancy background, it is highly possible that you can learn SAP FI/CO by yourself (provided you have SAP GUI - System access and Study material.) I can research for you and recommend a suitable faculty for FI and you can ask the institute to give you that provider.
Life long access is good but you really have to see if the teacher is a good one there.
next is the money. I have seen people pay as low as $1500 (in 3 installments) for the course. The desi people runnig the show will accept any money. For the EI guys, they are offering all expenses paid vacation to Italy/Europe/ Cuba / Florida (only one destination) if you take a particular school. The key is to negotiate before you handover your MONEY. After handing over the money, they will not even care for you. Only soft copies of the study material will be provided if you donot ask and negotiate before handing over the money (which is very difficult to read) and read as well as practice on the system.
Some ERP institutes offer free coffee, Dining room, Clean and Hygenic classrooms.

This is IMO.
Finance is very hot in SAP. It is the usual practice to do just one module and pass certifcation in that module. I have known people who have Finance background, SAP FI education and certification in just a couple of months in Canada (In recession times) but I canot generalise.
In essense, what SAP FI people do is they JUST CUSTOMISE SAP FI module to the existing business of the company. So for example ABC Company is either implementing a SAP FI system or converting from Peoplesoft to SAP FI, what you need to do is to input ABC company's FI stuff into SAP FI , using the forms and buisiness processes that are there. It is as simple as that you get paid $100 + an hour (with one or 2 years of SAP FI experience (cooked or otherwise).
I am not aware if CO is hot or not. But then if CO if your area of expertise, then go for it. in SAP all modules are hot and it all ends in what you wish to do.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

You are very generous and helpful and assisting me in all possbile ways. Your last mail gives almost all information. I am considering myerppartners.com as I have attended one class on FI and I found instructor is good enough.. They also provide softcopies and they denied to negotiate anything for fees..still I will try one more time as you suggest....

My area is Finance only and will get certification in FI module but I thought If I have hard time getting job only with one module then I may consider CO not decided yet..lets see what happens...

you are absoultey right about advantages desi institute is taking when they have EI guys.(I have seen personally)!!

Anyways I would like to ask you two things here..

1. In SAP all the jobs are contractual and never permanent? I would consider permamnet job initially so that I get some time to breathe as I dont have any SAP experience...

2. what is the chance of getting job after certification but without any implemetation expereince and average salary one should expect.. not average rather in worst cases???

If you wish you can mail me at and can share all important and confidential information.

I request you to send me all necessary info at this email as early as possible as next batch for FI is starting in ONE DAY only so I am supposed to take decision...

I have no words hpw much thankful I am for you..Thanks a lot for keeping me well informed..

Regards
