Ann Coulter is being welcomed by Calgary while she was chased away from Ottawa.
I am no fan of Ann. She, in my humble opinion, do possess very EXTREME views on all the issues. She was a star in Bush era in USA. Now her visibility has gone down in USA. She also made some very nasty remark about Canada. She also made a very nasty remark about a Muslim girl who raised a question at her meeting in London, Ontario.
I once boorwed a book written by her from Library. Could not go beyond first 50 pages.

I'm a big fan of Ann Coulter. I follow her on FOX and CNN.
I strongly condone you for your view that she has an extreme view. Who gave you the yardstick/dip stick to say this is extreme or that is mildly extreme or the other is dangerously extreme.
Nope none of us have the right.
As long as Osama Bin Laden and family fought the Russians in Afghanistan he was a freedom fighter, the minute he turned his gun against USA he became a terrorist.
If you have watched Farenheit 911 you would found that the only plane that flew over USA when there was a clamp down of airplanes over USA after 911 was Bin Laden family flying out of USA with special permission from Dick Cheney the VP of USA.
This is the dangerous trap Canada is getting into.
It is becoming another India.
The concept of Free Speech is being destroyed here in Canada as it is already dead and buried six feet under in India.
Whatever it is she should have a place and freedom to say it.
What did she say wrong?. On one hand globally some muslims are being watched for terrorist activities. This includes bombing aircrafts. On the other hand they some of them refuse to go through the scanners reasoning as it is against religion.
Hence how will they need to travel?. As they do in Middle East it'll be Camel.If you have to travel by airplane then you need to put yourself through the airport security which includes full body scanner (after the December Bombing incidence by the Underwear Bomber from Nigeria). If you cannot then do not fly.
That is all what she said and I fully support this view even if you are Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jewish or an Atheist.
If you are unwilling to hear the opposite views how will you grow as a human being?.
Whatever they might say the likes of Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and Jeff Beck should have a chance to communicate.
But do you know that for every person who watches CNN there are 4 more watching Fox.
The reason being in Ottawa the student population in university is mostly Brown in Ontario while it is white in Calgary.
The country is dividing on racial lines and it is not good.
The ruling in Quebec that women who want governmental service should have their face covered is also another controversial but a fair statement.
How do you know whether the person who attended the class and the one taking the exam are the same?.
How would you like the person who wants to keep the face covered wants to face the wall and make the presentation as her religion does not permit her to look at male audience while making a presentation.
I learnt that in Kerala, India there is a religious group called 7th Day Adventist. They are christian group. They believe that Friday is for prayers and the whole day they just pray and do not do anything else. What happens in Kerala if there is a board exam?.
The students of this group go to school and sit in class and pray the whole day. Later in the night they take the same exam which was already taken by their hindu/muslim counterparts in the morning.
What happens?, the Question paper is already out in the morning and a few prepare the answers for the same and the kids are fully prepared with answers to take the exam in the evening eventhough they are tired after all the praying.
Now when these kids come into the job market will you let them pray in your office on a Friday and let them work in the night if you are the business owner?.
What next?.
Would like to see your fire fighters, police and others protecting you with their face covered?.
How far do you want to take your personal beliefs in a common platform when there are others who want to accomodate you to certain extent.
I'll challenge you to this question?.
Will you fly in a plane where the air hostess or the pilot would come into the cockpit with their face covered?.
Let us let go of an airplane, will you take a taxi cab with driver who has their face covered?.
This is a dangerous trend in Ontario.
If people do not realize this trend and put a stop like Quebec we will be in for serious trouble in the next decade in the name of religion.

I agree that she should be allowed to express herself. The better course would have been to file charges if she makes hateful speech and still a better option would have been to boycott her speech.

OTTAWA - University of Ottawa provost Francois Houle should apologize to American pundit Ann Coulter, says Canada's main university teachers' organization.
"We feel you [Houle] owe an apology to Ms. Coulter and, even more importantly, you owe the University of Ottawa community an assurance that the administration of the university strongly supports freedom of expression, academic freedom and views the role of the university as fostering and defending these values," officials with the Canadian Association of University Teachers said this week in a letter to Mr. Houle.
Ms. Coulter, an often controversial commentator, cancelled a speaking engagement at the University of Ottawa earlier this week because of a mob of shouting students denouncing her presence. But even before she spoke Mr. Houle took it upon himself to write the best-selling author a letter warning her against violating Canada's hate-speech laws. Ms. Coulter is set to speak in Calgary Thursday evening.
The uproar Ms. Coulter left behind when her Ottawa speech was cancelled Tuesday amid a raucous protest has spurred even greater interest into the previously low-key Calgary event. Late Wednesday Calgary organizers moved Coulter's speech to a venue with double the capacity.
A local anti-racist group is planning to protest outside Ms. Coulter's appearance. The University of Calgary is beefing up security for Coulter's speech following the Ottawa incident.
Mr. Houle's conduct has been denounced as condescending, a violation of freedom of expression and even intellectual cowardice.
CAUT president Penni Stewart and executive director James Turk added to the denunciations in their letter, saying Mr. Houle's action also "raises serious questions about the University of Ottawa's respect for freedom of expression and academic freedom."
Since the Ms. Coulter cancellation, the University of Ottawa has been widely mocked in the Canadian and U.S. media as a bastion of small minds.
The CAUT, while claiming to "profoundly disagree" with Ms. Coulter's views, said the "disturbing questions and provocative challenges" she raises should be welcomed and subjected to "vigorous debate."
The organization represents more than 67,000 academic and general staff at colleges and universities across Canada.
In a brief statement Wednesday, University of Ottawa president Allan Rock defended his institution and said that free expression is a core value of the school that bills itself as Canada's university.
"We have a long history of hosting contentious and controversial speakers on our campus. [Tuesday] night was no exception, as people gathered here to listen to and debate Ann Coulter's opinions," he said.

i typicially find peopole in western canada to be more tolerant of races, gender, bi-sexual, relighion peoples as a whole ... more uptight and xenophobes in ontario.
