I see that Windmobile has amazing deals in the GTA area. Is there a catch? Like connectivity, etc?

No contract. Yes thats the best part, no contract , not even hidden terms and conditions.

No System Access fee

No 911 fees

Caller ID, Call hold/wait/forwarding is all included in all plans. 100% no catch or hidden fees on any of these.

You buy phone, not on contract. There is no contract at all at any time on any plan ever.

Local call is province wide. Not just the city you are located in.

Wind number to Wind number is 100 % unlimited as long you are in Wind network. (On the screen you will see WIND Home. When you see WIND Away it means you are in roaming scenario)

Incoming SMS is always free irrespective of anywhere you are (Roaming, International or in home network) or any plan you are subscribed to.

As long you are in coverage area depending on your plan, you get 100% free what is mentioned on the plan

If you go out of coverage , you get charged roaming rates , which is 0.25 cents per minute for voice and if not mistaken 0.15 cents for SMS.

Its value for money.

More details walk to their stores or visit their website windmobile .ca

Hi newincanada, yes, those features were what attracted me. But the feedback I got from one person is that their network is bad and roaming charges are expensive. So I decided to give up on it.

I do not understand how roaming charges are high, secondly just by one persons opinion how can you judge. I am using this from last 3 months and I accept initial days when it was started had some dropped calls, but now its always clear and good connectivity. I agree if you are out of GTA you may have some area where you may have poor coverage.

I would say you check out with more people who are using, not just who are not using Wind Mobile service. After all there is no contract , if you dislike you can always cancel. No one is restricting you and making slave by contracts.

Choice is yours....

Customer Service is pathetic infact I don't think they have more that couple of people in Customer Service. I tried to get in touch with one for 2 days, each time waited for more than 30 mins still could not get anyone.
Then after getting frustrated I send an email on their web-site asking my question.
Someone finally answered my question exactly after 5 Business Days.

Secondly there do not cover GTA, infact major areas of GTA are still not covered. So if you are in GTA and not in proper Toronto you will keep paying roaming whatever charge it may be.

It is good for people who are in the coverage for now. I think by 2011 they would cover most of the GTA.

For now it is a big NO - NO till they expand their coverage in a big way.

If you are looking for a new plan try FIDO. They have 2000 Mins for $40. Easy 1.3Hrs/Day. Covers all GTA.

1> WIND works on the AWS spectrum so u need a different phone

2> Coverage is not good as it is a new carrier.

Rogers recently launched http://www.chatrwireless.com" rel="nofollow">LINK . It uses rogers backbone but with comparable plans, and the best part is u can use any old rogers/fido or unlocked world phone

We have two Wind mobile connections in our family and subscribe to chat plan @ $15.00 each mobile. We have good experience with Wind.

* Wind to Wind calling is free and we get 100 anytime minutes each connection.
