Hello
I need an opinion of the senior as well as the junior desis in forum. I have been living in Canada for the last three years, just applied for my citizenship. I work as a financial analyst for a large company and make around 60K. I am a CMA(Certified Management Accountant).
I just got a job offer with a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) company in Bangalore for a financial analyst ‘s position. The total pay is around 12L per annum( not CTC) and the work is to do accounting/financial analysis stuff for their clients in north American and Europe.
I am kind of confused now, don’t know which one to go for. Any advice?

you will live like a king with this salary in india but choice is all yours.
if i would get the similar package i will go back and come to canada for vacations .

Hello,
Congratulations !!!! If I had been in your place, I would have grabbed the opportunity with open arms. But I would definately advise you to continue pursuing your canadian citizenship.
Bangalore is a nice place to stay plus you have a very good offer on hand. You can lead a very good standard of life with that kind of money. Beleive me.
Dont consider moving back to india as a sign of defeat or a step in the reverse direction. Gone are the days when any such move raised eyebrows and branded one as a defeated man. Today is the time when americans are seeking job opportunities in india. india and Banglore, in particular, is now pretty popular all over the world and any such experience could well be good for your resume for any future international assignments too.
So, my friend, I repeat, continue the citizenship pursuit, Even if you have to make a quick visit to canada later, that will be a small price to pay to keep a Plan B open. Also, while thinking about india as a professional destination try first shunning those preconceived notions that we we all indians ( sadly !!!!) have and try thinking with an open mind keeping your personal, professional growth as priority.
Hope I have been of some help..........

Congratulations ! ( I am sure it's not a first April thing )
If I would be in your situation I will go and grab this opprtunity. You can come back and write the exam for the citizenship whenever required ( 2 of my friends did the same thing). Although you will have to spend some money on this trip but it is worth.
Good Luck my friend !
Regards.

Hi Timon,
Please do not think that 1 lakh per month is a big money in India. Through u r in finance So must be knowing lot. But let me tell u some basic problems in Banglore/india.
1>First is housing. U have to shell out 1 year advance before renting any flat/house. Now to live in modest 3 bedroom flat locality it will cost Rs 10000 pm.
To live really like in the locality that sound like living in western country . Here in gurgaon(near delhi) Two bedroom flat rent is Rs 19000 per month Mind bogging high.( they ensure 24 hour electricity supply/water/swimming pool etc). I guess in Bang lore rates will be like that.
2> U will need to give 30% income tax on ur income if more than 5 llakh per annum here in India. In return, no social security /medical facility etc. Through I guess the company that u join might be providing some kind of group insurance in medical. Better check that. Other wise medical expanse is high (God forbids)
3> In case u r still single then fine , other wise check if ur wife too can earn that she earn in Canada.
4> Check ur CTC closely. Many companies offer bonus in that. But the conditions are like if u remain with that company for 3-5 years then only u will get that amount. So effective 'Take Home' is less.
5> The bonus itself is clubbed with the companies performance. So effective yearly bonus is also less. Check that also.
But since u r financial guy so what more i can say. I personally believe if one wants to leave north America continent and want to live in India. Minimum per month salary should be 2 lakhs. But then after getting more experience U can easliy get jump to another company.
Best of luck..

Totaly depends on what are your personal preferences and family situation. If money is the only criteria, in short term, shifting to Bangalore might seem to be right. If professional growth is concerned, the profession of financial analyst is growing in India, but is way far behind what the present situation of North America, Germany, Singapore etc. is.
Have you thought of shifting to Singapore - which might offer you a better salary than 60k, a better lifestyle, a clean or cleaner atmosphere than Canada, and all the goods of Asian culture and family values.
Or how about trying Cayman Islands - I see quite a few job openings for persons like you in Cayman which offers a grand lifestyle and nice salary.
Personally, 12 lakh in India today is good, but lots of persons I know earn that, and still need (yes need, not like to) the spouse to work to be able to lead the lifestyle they see North Americans living. I have three nephews and nieces (married with one child each) who make more than 15 lakhs per annum, but say that the quality of life I used to lead in Singapore or lead here in Canada, was/is much better than they lead in India. (Infact one of them is visiting us next month to decide whether to apply for migration or not!!)
Between Canada and India, I would choose the former with all its problems.
