Hello CD’s,
I own a second hand car which I use to commute to office. I have got another job which does not require me to use the car and hence I am going to cancel my insurance.
I do not want to sell the car since it got dented by an accident and I need to fix it before selling it (it may cost $1000. The car itself is worth only $ 4000 or so) and I may need it,if I get laid off or terminated within a month or two.
I do not want to pay for condo parking which is $ 70 a month.
I live near the square one area of Mississauga and is there any way in which I can park the car for a small fee?
I currently park in a street (for free) but then I use the car for work M-Sat. and hence the street parking enforcer cannot see the car during the day to possibly ticket it.
Your ideas would be much appreciated.

Peace by TK

One of my friend left for US alongwith his family for 2 months and his parking is available. talk to him. I don't know if he is close to sq.one. He is working in US so, I think parking is available for longer period also.

Apt Building Address: 3425 Morningstar Drive, Mississauga, Ontario L4T1Y1

The place where I stay in Dixon-kipling intersection, We have parking facilities outside the building but inside complex for $20 per month. Securities are there for 24 hours. If you wish, I can arrange for you.

Is that allowed by the MTO i.e. have a registered plate but not have insurance.
Doesn't the insurance company report cancelation of insurance to the MTO?
And if you had to drive the car for any reason, you'd be driving without insurance.

Thanks Guys for the answers, as always.
Gopal Pai - > Thanks for the reply. The Morning star would not work out. Your area seems very affordable. I was actually looking for some unconventional answers (like what my father did when he came to visit USA. He pawned all the jewels in the bank and then paid back 99% of the money the next day. After he returned from the USA after 3 months, he went and paid the 1 % remaining money and the interest for that 1 % money and got all the jewels back and this the jewels were taken good care of)

Pratick -> It is allowed to have the plates with or without a car as well as insurance. I will be renewing the plate each year. It is highly doubtful if MTO has any real time info. on insurance (otherwise, how could the dealer get you the plates without any insurance). I had a car previously which I junked but then held on to the plates (and did not renew my plates). I bought this car after 12 months and as a self made environmentalist, I told them that I wanted to use my previous plates for my latest car instead of getting a new one . The agent quoted $ 320 for the old plates (with registration) Vs. $ 80 for a brand new set of plates. I went for the second option and returned the old plates w/o having to pay any fine.

It may be allowed to keep plates with or without a car or insurance ... but when you want to renew it - dont you need to provide insurer n mileage?

Hi! TK,

Congrats for the job.

In all building parking, there are some spots not sold due to less space to turn, near the entry gate, some spots not sold to make area for the garbage truck movement, get duplicate parking entry keys and voila its free just no sticker on windsheild.

Cops never come in basement parking to issue tickets.

The gold in the bank is so funny, I know so much of you now, your father is a Vet, your had car issue a while back, what about the overweight thing, did it work.

$70 for parking.....expensive building, are there to many whites in the building?

Cops won't come but building owners/super will get it towed if they come to know of it.
