This is for my friend who has got an employment offer from a company in Muscat, Oman . He works in Canada and holds an Indian passport.
It seems that he must do a series of medical tests (to apply for the employment visa) which he has already done in a lab in Mississauga and paid the fees as this is a Non-OHIP service. His agent in Canada has told him that he must also do the HIV and VDRL test and that for this he must get a request from a doctor and that these tests will be done at a provincial lab and that the results will be sent directly to him (the patient). Does anybody have any details about where this Non OHIP test will be done? He and I googled but we could not find any answers. He told me to ask this in CD forum b'cos the lab technicians nor the walk-in doctors are not answering properly and that the agent is telling him that he needs a different specific request for this.

On a side note he also told me to inform Cd's that if you need a non-OHIP X-ray, the only place that this can be done is at 2300 Eglington Avenue (a medical building at Credit valley hospital complex).

It is very simple. Go to any Walk in Clinic. Show your requirement for VDRL/HIV test. He will write requesition & doctor will mention it has to be paid by Paitent ( Not billed to OHIP). Go to any CML lab, pay them money & get the test done. I did some test for my Father in Law by paying from my pocket. It is very easy. All these labs charge OHIP but if it is not covered by OHIP/not required by OHIP, pay them directly.
VDRL Test/HIV test are very routine in Nature. Anyways, when your friend will reach Muscat, again they will repeat these tests in a Omani Lab
