Dear all,

This website seems really amazing with so many people genuinely helping each other. Would deeply appreciate it if you all could help me with my dilemma.

My husband and I (28 yrs old) from Bombay, are planning to do graduate studies in Canada in our respective careers. We had applied for our study permits on April 27, 2007. We both received instructions asking for medical tests and have completed them on May 17. While my husband should have no problem, I have a medical history that i am concerned about.

I was treated for TB infection (extra-pulmonary in lymph gland) for 9 months from January to October 2005 and was cleared by my doc. I have been perfectly fine since then. But I am worried that because of an old scarring/ thickening in one of my lungs they might ask me to to do additional sputum test and X-rays. Apparently this process takes 3 months and I am worried because my term starts on September 1. If visa is delayed I will not make it in time for college in Sept and since there is no January intake I will have to defer my studies by a whole year! My questions are...

1) I have been told to resubmit passport 11 working days after the first medical. After this, how long will CHC take to send letter for additional medical tests?

2) Assuming I complete my additional medical tests and submit them, how long after that will they take to give the study permit visa?

Please please help.

Andrea

It takes another 15 days once your medical is arrived at chc delhi. If you have finished your medical in local area means delhi then they can recieved early. So you can check with your dmp that they have send your results or not.
H/e if you have some probs with medicals they will send you letter very quick in a week or two.

I would suggest you to take admission for next semi. Once you come here you could change the course or college. There is a rule that once you get your study permit you can study at any community or private college without informing immigration so you can select your course. All you need to do is get the letter for next semi from your college because they will ask that.

Thank you for the reply. Actually the problem is that the program I have applied for does not have a January intake. So the college cannot defer my admission to January. So either I make it this Sept or the next year. Inorder to apply to any other course, I will have to reapply for a study permit with acceptance letter from another college!

I have resubmitted my passport today. Completed medicals on 21 May. Hope CHC lets me know soon

Thanks for your help

Andrea
