I have send required docs to India , they submitted that to Visa Service Center , Mumbai.
Within week they received back passport requesting to undergo Medical test.
Is this normal procedure, as I am not sure if each and every person coming to Canada on Tourist Visa needs to undergo Medical test.
Kindly share your views/experience?
Hi!
When we applied for Visitor's Visa for our In-laws 11 months back, they had to do a medical test. Looks like CIC asks seniors to take medical test, if they are not satisfied with the income level , duration of stay of thesponser in Canada. They may also ask the senior/s who are coming to take medical tests if it is a first time application for both the sponser and the visitor.
In our case, our in-laws had to take further medical tests for some result which was not liked by CIC delhi. In the end they spent more than 30,000 rs. and waited for 5 months to get the visa.
Also if a family applies for visitors visa and CIC is not pleased with just ONE person's medical, they refuse to issue visa's for the remainder of the persons in the family .
My parents would like to come to Toronto for 2 weeks in July. My mother can never pass the medical test if CIC New Delhi asks for a medical test to be done and so (since they have a Valid USA visitor's visa) what i propose is that they come to USA and then apply for a visitors visa at one of the Canadian counsulates in USA. These counsulates generally ask for a personal interview and we hope that they can just attend the interview and not do the medical test. However if the office (in USA) tells that my mum needs a medical test, then she will have to forget coming to Canada.
Thanks
TK

Medical Test requirement for Visitor Visa is applicable for few countries and if you have asked for Multiple Visa for more than six months.
Please visit CIC website, you will find the information

My parents have also been told to undergo medical in December. In january ,they were told to undergo some more tests.God knows how long will this carry on.Hope all the tests r over by march.

When my in-laws came two yrs back, they did not have to go thru medical test (my FIL would have failed medical test). The travel agent sent their application to Delhi and got the visas and they made the trip. IMO, it could be case by case basis, but I have no clue.
BTW, I know a family who were working in Canada on work permit and their immigration was rejected as the guy failed the medical test (that's what he told before he left the country).

My parents were here 6 months ago and they were not asked for medical test results but they applied for single entry 6 month visa.
