Hello All,
Landing to toronto in mid of April with wife.
Will be working on Yonge street and looking for a Bachelor apartment with
1. budget of 800$
2. Near station, doctors and super markets
3. Will be commuting by train so should be max 30 mins far from yonge street.
4. Indians should be staying in that area
Please please suggest, in which area near yonge should i look into.
Prior research says, Sheppard-Don Mills area is good.
Please suggest more.
What is cost of living in North York region.

Yomge Street is 1,896 Kms long ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yonge_Street ), although some websites dispute that ( http://www.boldts.net/Tor7.shtml ).
Do you know the intersection.
Getting a unit close to the subway for $800 / month is highly unlikely. You're looking at a minimum of around $1000 for a 1-BR unit close to the subway.
You'll find Indians almost everywhere in the city. Although there are some areas which have a high concentration while others are not.
Doctors - You may get one close by, but the key is - are they accepting new patients

Hello Sir,
Thanks for ur reply...
Liked your informative humor:-)
My mistake....my office is near intersection of empress avanue and yonge street.
Moreover, when u say 1 BR ..it means 1 BHK or bachelor apartment.
Please comment on cost of living as well.

It will be difficult for you to find even a bachelor apartment for $800/month near Empress and Yonge (near meaning within 20 minute walking distance, for example). A 1 bedroom apartment in that area will probably cost at least 1100-1300, so I wouldn't expect a bachelor apartment for less than $1000/mth. This is because that area of North York is bit on the higher end of upper middle class.
This will be a problem practically anywhere along Yonge street within Toronto, particularly if you go further south. If you definitely want to stay along Yonge, apartments will get cheaper north of Finch street, although there are no subway lines north of Finch and it's not as heavy an Indian area (more Jewish/Russian or other white).
Don Mills/Sheppard is a decent area with lots of apartment buildings. It is close to Fairview Mall and Don Mills subway, which is a ~20 minute train ride away from Yonge/Empress. Population will be mixed, but lots of Indians and East Asian.
Other traditional Indian immigrant areas in Toronto with lots of apartment buildings are along Lawrence Avenue between Dufferin and Jane streets (~1 hour away from Empress/Yonge by bus/subway, and don't get too close to Jane -- not too safe), around Kipling and Dixon (1.5 hours away from Empress/Yonge), and in Rexdale, around Islington/Albion (1.5 hours or more by public transit from Empress/Yonge). You can also go further east of Don Mills to around Victoria Park and Lawrence or Victoria Park and Eglinton -- lots of Indian people there too, although some parts of Scarborough are not as safe so you should look into that.
